Mother's Day

With Valentine’s done and dusted for another year, it’s now time to redirect all that love and attention to another special someone in your life – mum. We can’t imagine many better ways to treat her either than with a beautiful meal cooked by yours truly, so you’ll be glad to hear we’ve kept the ball rolling from the most romantic time of the year by similarly creating our own set menu for Mother’s Day.

We think there’s something for all the family to enjoy with this one, reflective of our pub up on Mount Ephraim by offering a real array of dishes including Sankey’s seafood specials, hearty Sunday options, and those that are slightly on the finer side fitting of our stunning downstairs space. We don’t want to keep you waiting though, so read on as we give you a quick lowdown on what you can expect:

Starters

Although Spring will have arrived by the time Mother’s Day is here, we imagine it’ll still be pretty nippy outside which is why we’ve naturally gone for a warming Roasted Celeriac Soup to start off with. Don’t worry if you’re feeling something a bit meatier though, as we’ll also be kicking things off with a Ham Hock Terrine, as well as a few Sankey’s classics in the form of Moules Marinière and Oak Smoked Salmon Pastrami.

Mains

As tradition dictates Mother’s Day always falls on a Sunday, so why not get the best of both worlds with one of our classic end of week options? Tuck into a roast Topside of Beef, Leg of Lamb, or our Vegan Nut Roast which we naturally serve with all the trimmings. Feeling something different? We’ve got you covered. Take things on the lighter side with our fresh Daily Market Fish, or for just a small supplement, make mum’s day with a magnificent ½ Cornish Lobster.  

Desserts

If there’s any day for mum to be indulgent it’s this one, and our Gin & Tonic Cheesecake is a naughty way of doing just that. Alternatively, you can always freshen up that palate with a Lemon Posset or find an equally delicious zing with our Profiteroles that are filled with a mouth-watering orange Chantilly cream. We wouldn’t leave out our vegan diners of course, so for you lovely bunch we’ve got our Vegan Sticky Toffee Pudding that’s sure to tempt even the biggest dairy and meat lovers around the table.

For all those options though, mum doesn’t need to opt for something sweet at all, as for a bit extra we’ll put together a cracking Cheese Board with four types to choose from as well as fig chutney, sourdough, and crackers.

That’s not the only way you can celebrate on March 27th though, as the Old Fishmarket will also be open too should you wish to treat mum to a few glasses of bubbly and something delicious from our menu, all set to the gorgeous backdrop of The Pantiles.
