Our Thursday nights of live music down at The Old Fishmarket may be coming to an end next week, but we’re delighted to say we’ll be joining forces with Local and Live once more to round off the summer of sound in style. That’s because, just like last year, the Sankey’s team will be on hand to provide plenty of refreshment at Tunbridge Well’s iconic celebration of local talent over the bank holiday weekend.
What is Local and Live?
When we speak of Local and Live we’re actually referring to two things; in this main instance it’s the annual festival taking place in Calverley Grounds from Friday 26 to Monday 29th August (with events shifting to The Royal Spa Hotel on the final day). There isn’t just one genre or style that defines the event either, as instead the varied line-up of acts is curated to reflect the rich culture of our creative town – as well as ensuring there’s something for everyone who attends.
This ethos doesn’t just last for once a year though, it defines Local and Live which, through its charity status, aims to support, encourage, and nurture grassroots artists with shows year long, highlighting undiscovered gems to the wider world.
That’s why we’ve been thrilled to collaborate this summer for our weekly evenings of dinner and jazz on The Pantiles, as on one hand it provides our guests with a fabulous atmosphere in which to enjoy our fabulous seafood, and on the other a platform for many local artists to display their talent.
Tickets aren’t required either, just head to Calverley Grounds across the first three days where you’ll find us pouring to perfection your liquid refreshment, and cooking up some banging bites too!
